Senior Game Designer

APPLY

Cubic Games is a development studio and part of the GDEV holding. What started as a small team has grown into a game development studio with more than 120 professionals on board.

Our mission is to create unique pixel-style games. We are the developers of the popular shooter Pixel Gun 3D, played by over 5 million users worldwide every month.

Why this role might interest you

  • You’ll join an experienced development team with well-established processes and the freedom to exchange knowledge and ideas with talented colleagues.
  • We combine the agility and speed of a mid-sized company with the ambition and drive of a startup — creating a dynamic, inspiring environment for creativity and growth.
  • At Cubic Games, we value open communication, mutual support, and continuous learning. You’ll have a high level of autonomy and the opportunity to make meaningful decisions that shape our games.
  • Here, you’ll contribute to titles played by millions of people around the world — and be part of a team that sets clear goals and builds with purpose.

What you’ll be doing

  • Configure and integrate new gameplay mechanics and core systems in Unity and spreadsheets (balance, parameters, configs).

  • Design and document new features and mechanics — create GDDs and ensure quality implementation.

  • Build and fine-tune FTUE and early game sessions to deliver an engaging and intuitive onboarding experience.

  • Set up and optimize gameplay loops (core, daily, weekly, and LiveOps).

  • Maintain detailed documentation and balance sheets (GDDs, configs, analytical reports).

  • Manage and support gameplay configs in the production pipeline, collaborating closely with programmers and QA.

  • Analyze key metrics (retention, conversion, session length) to identify problem areas and growth opportunities.

  • Evaluate new content performance through player engagement and conversion data.

  • Review player feedback and community insights, forming hypotheses for game improvements.

  • Participate in brainstorms and idea generation for feature and content updates.

  • Collaborate with producers, designers, and analysts during planning and development.

What we’re looking for

  • 5+ years of experience as a Game Designer on mobile titles.

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with Unity — confident working with game data, prefabs, and configs.

  • Fluent Russian is required for this role.
  • Strong skills in Excel / Google Sheets / Notion / Confluence for balancing and documentation.

  • Understanding of FTUE and UX patterns for new player retention.

  • Knowledge of F2P monetization principles and how design choices impact ARPU and retention.

  • Experience working with analytics and using data to inform design decisions.

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with technical and creative teams.

Why we love working here

  • Flexible work format — remote or from our offices in Yerevan or Cyprus.

  • Official employment under the Armenian Labor Code or via remote contract from another country.

  • Transparent conditions: white salary, 21 paid vacation days, 3 additional days off per year, and 100% paid sick leave.

  • Health insurance (DMS) from day one (available in Armenia and Cyprus).

  • Professional development support: workshops, masterclasses, and internal learning programs.

  • Corporate events, gifts, and holiday bonuses.
