Cubic Games is a development studio within the GDEV holding. We've grown from a small team into a leading game development studio with over 120 specialists. Our mission is to create unique pixel-style games, including the popular Pixel Gun 3D, which attracts over 5 million monthly active players.
We are currently working on our next big project — Pixel Gun 2, a cross-platform PvP arena shooter — and we're looking for a talented Senior Concept Artist!
What You'll Do:
Create concept art for stylized characters, environments, weapons, and props for first- or third-person shooters.
Develop visual styles for in-game objects, including shape language, silhouettes, and color palettes.
Design concepts supporting gameplay mechanics: environments, weapons, gear, skills, FX, and visual signatures for both characters and enemies.
Produce quick sketches, iterations, and final polished renders ready for production handoff.
Work with moodboards, gather and analyze visual references, and study competitors' art styles.
Prepare concepts for 3D production: including turnarounds, form/material breakdowns, and logical construction.
Collaborate closely with the Art Director, 3D artists, animators, VFX and UI teams to ensure a consistent and immersive visual experience.
Take part in creative sessions, pitch visual ideas, and support features during pre-production and production phases.
What We Expect From You:
Experience & Skills:
5+ years of experience as a Concept Artist in the game industry, preferably on midcore shooters or a variety of projects with diverse visual styles.
Proficient in Photoshop and other digital painting tools.
Solid understanding of 3D tools (basic level to support concept design).
Familiarity with the full game art pipeline—from concept to final asset.
Artistic Strengths:
Excellent sense of shape, silhouette, and proportions; ability to create gameplay-readable designs.
Strong knowledge of stylized anatomy, materials, and aesthetics (low-poly to semi-realistic).
Solid grasp of color composition, focal points, and visual hierarchy.
Ability to merge artistic vision with functional gameplay needs — thinking like a designer.
Experience in worldbuilding: designing biomes, factions, and character classes.
Technical Proficiency:
Ability to adapt concepts to the technical constraints of both mobile and PC platforms.
Skilled in preparing production-ready documentation: comments, material breakdowns, turnarounds, and style guides.
Understanding of effective pre-production practices: making concepts clear, feasible, and ready for implementation.
Requirements:
Portfolio showcasing a range of stylized concepts (characters, environments, weapons, creatures).
At least one case study with process or technical breakdown is a strong plus.
Willingness to work iteratively, accept feedback, and refine work accordingly.
Team player with proactive communication and collaboration skills.
Creative mindset with the ability to develop original visual ideas within set constraints.
