Art Director

Cubic Games is a part of GDEV gaming and entertainment powerhouse: Nexters, Royal Ark, Game Gears. We started as a small team in 2012 and have since evolved into a thriving game development studio.  

Our mission is crystal clear: we specialize in creating distinctive pixel games. We are the developers of the popular shooter Pixel Gun 3D, played by more than 5 million users worldwide every month. Currently, we have a team of more than 140 specialists, both working remotely and in our offices in Armenia and Cyprus.    

Role & Responsibilities:

• Leading the team to define the visual style of the project.
• Reimagining existing visuals while maintaining continuity and adding unique new features.
• Developing pipelines and guidelines for the team.
• Managing the creation processes of level art, concept art, and other visual assets.
• Collaborating with the team, assigning tasks, and ensuring their completion.
• Balancing quality and resources: understanding when polishing is necessary and when it’s important to stop to avoid overspending time and resources.

Skills and experience:

• 2+ years of experience as an Art Director in gaming projects.
• Proven experience with cross-platform games—from PC to mobile devices.
• A deep understanding of 2D and 3D pipelines.
• The ability to create technical guidelines and explain them to the team.
• Experience in providing feedback and reviewing the team’s work.
• Artistic education.
• An innate sense of style, taste, and attention to detail.
• Creativity and the ability to think outside the box.
• The ability to take responsibility for key decisions.
• The ability to see the bigger picture and propose strategic solutions.
